The story so far …

Last week, at a birthday party, I was pleasantly surprised by the delicious small dishes prepared by Alex of Elemental Table. Throughout the evening he served dishes alternating between different kinds of fish, grilled vegetables and mushrooms, topped off with a delicious dessert. The dishes were exceptional and the ingredients were of high quality. He served every course effortlessly, explained the dishes and worked quietly in the background. By the end of the evening he had cleared everything away and left the kitchen spotless. His passion for cooking showed in everything he did!

When I entered the kitchen, chef Alex was calmly working on what we would be served over the next few hours.

After a toast to the birthday guest, oysters were served first, with a choice of accompaniments that gave the dish an extra touch without overpowering their soft, briny flavour.

The evening continued with a wide variety of delicious dishes, each served in small, festive-looking portions, with flavour combinations that were completely new to me and worked like little flavour bombs.

It was a surprising evening, with Alex staying completely relaxed and keeping an overview of the many things that needed to be done.

Alex prepared a series of festive small dishes for my sister’s birthday. What a celebration! Surprising and original flavour combinations, with so much variety, even though it was mainly ‘delicacies from the sea’. Every dish was once again overwhelmingly beautiful and delicious. In the midst of it all, Alex remained relaxed and cheerful throughout the evening. All in all, an unforgettable treat!
